The place
A basic shelter set on the vast Veliko Libinje plateau, below the Sveto brdo in the southern Velebit (Zadar county, Croatia). A simple container fitted with four beds and a few extra sleeping spots on a mezzanine, at 900 m altitude. Water is collected from a cistern. Managed by the Alpine Society (PU) Tulove grede of Jasenice (contact: Joso Nekić). Access following the markings from Rovanjska (3 h) or from Tulove grede (2 h). From the sklonište, the marked trail continues to the Vlaški grad sklonište in 2 h, as well as to the Sveto brdo. A rare waypoint in this wild, stony part of the southern Velebit, rich in karst formations.
