Planinarsko sklonište Tatekova koliba
The place
Charming mountain shelter set at the edge of the beautiful, flat grassy Stap valley, on the Velebit long-distance trail (VPP — Velebitski planinarski put), southern Velebit. Capacity of 10 beds, open year-round, self-service, managed by HPD Paklenica of Zadar (contact Slavko Tomerlin). A water pump is located about 50 m from the sklonište. An important stage on the longitudinal traverse of the Velebit between Baške Oštarije and Struge; an ideal starting point for routes in the Stap area. Built and maintained by hand over decades by Slavko Tomerlin ("Tatek"), after whom the hut is named. No access road — nearest car access at Ljubotić or the hamlet of Zagon, reached by paved road from Tribanj Kruščice (15 km from Starigrad Paklenica on the Adriatic coast).
