The place
Staffed refuge located at 1846 m altitude at the heart of the Corsica Regional Nature Park. Founded in 1971, it marks the GR20 between Manganu and l'Onda. Its terrace offers a panoramic view over the island's central peaks. 28 sleeping places in staffed season.

Stage on the GR20: 6 h from Manganu (ridge variant 8 h), 5 h from l'Onda. Booking required for dormitory places.

A bit of history
Le refuge de Petra Piana (parfois orthographié Pietra Piana) a été le tout premier refuge construit spécifiquement pour le GR20, en 1971, à une époque où la traversée de la Corse à pied restait une pratique confidentielle. Son architecture reste caractéristique, avec un toit qui descend presque jusqu'au sol.
