The place

Historic building in the Orangerie park of Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin), built in 1804 by architect Valentin Boudhors to house 140 orange trees seized from the Château de Bouxwiller during the Revolution. Named in tribute to Empress Joséphine de Beauharnais, wife of Napoleon Bonaparte. Destroyed by fire in 1968 then rebuilt identically for cultural use. Listed as a historic monument in 1929, with the whole park listed since 1993. Today it hosts exhibitions and temporary events. No connection to a free hiking shelter: entry out of scope.
