Patchellhytta
The place
Patchellhytta is a DNT self-service hut at 818 m in Stranda (Møre og Romsdal, Western Norway), at the foot of Slogen (1564 m), the most iconic peak of the Sunnmøre Alps. Very popular for day hikes and a perfect stopover before climbing Slogen, Brekketindane or Smørskredtindane. The original stone hut was built by Charles Watson Patchell in the 1920s; a new Patchellhytta was erected in 1964 and later extended in 2011. Three buildings with good capacity, including the fully restored original stone hut with 5 bunks. Provisions and all necessary equipment (kitchen, bedding, gas, wood). Access from Urke, by road to the Langesæterdalen parking area then about 7.5 km on foot from 360 m to 818 m.
