Pahtavaara autiotupa

The place

Free wilderness hut (autiotupa) managed by Metsähallitus in the Enontekiö municipality, Finnish Lapland, located south of Tupakkala, near the Pahtavaara summit (320 m) and a small lake. The building was moved from Ruostevaara in 2006 (2 km away). Access is 7 km from the Muotkavaara-Äkäslompolo road towards Olos. Six sleeping places, a stove (kamiina) for heating; no drinking water on site, surface water must be filtered/boiled without exception; waste management is the visitors' responsibility; cooking equipment must be brought. Open year-round, free, first come first served.
