The place

Serviced 9-bunk DOC hut on a ridge between Mt Bradley and the Remarkable Dykes, on Banks Peninsula (Christchurch, Canterbury), above 450 m elevation — panoramic views across the entire Lyttelton Harbour basin. Structure combining volcanic stone and timber, with windows on three sides. **Designed by Samuel Hurst Seager** as part of architect Harry Ell's project for a ridge route from Christchurch to Akaroa — an illustration of early 20th-century New Zealand architectural character. Three access routes: the Gebbies Pass track offers easy access from Kaituna Valley for families with young children.
