Øyungshytta

The place

Self-service (selvbetjent) hytte opened in 2018 by Hamar og Hedemarken Turistforening, in the Ringsakerfjellet (Ringsaker municipality, Hamar region). Set on the shore of Lake Øyungen, on the western side of the water, above the treeline in open terrain. Built of log timber with a turf roof, carefully integrated into the landscape. Capacity of 6 beds in 4 rooms (2 doubles, 2 singles) plus 1 room for dogs. Facilities: gas stove, wood stove, fireplace, solar power, water pump, composting toilet, furnished veranda. Summer: 2.7 km on foot from the Øyungen car park (42 km from Brumunddal via Åstdalen). Winter: an unmarked ski route of about 1.2 km from the groomed trails, following the Øyungsåa stream north along the lake's west shore. Open from 18 June to 10 April (closed during wild reindeer calving). Access via DNT key.
