The place

Rustic overnight cabin (övernattningsstuga) near Inner-Abborrtjärnen in the Vändåtberget nature reserve (Örnsköldsvik, Västernorrland, Sweden), a 345-hectare reserve designated in 1989 and expanded in 2015; one of the most valuable examples of taiga in Sweden. Two beds and a fireplace. Grill area, woodshed, and dry toilet outside. Hiking trails including the long-distance Urskogsleden. Rich biodiversity: rare beetles (notably the endangered Cucujus cinnaberinus), mixed forests shaped by historic fires (1629, 1653, 1705, 1780, 1853), varied bird life (raptors, passerines). Natura 2000 site. Access via road 352 north of Korsbyn, signposted from Björnavägen, parking at the trailhead. Managed by Länsstyrelsen Västernorrland.
