The place
Day cabin (päivätupa) at the summit of the Otsamo fell at 418 m (Inari, northern Finnish Lapland), about 8 km from the village of Inari. Former wooden fire warden's cabin, managed by Metsähallitus. Stove and firewood provided. No overnight stays — day use only. Panoramic view over Lake Inarinjärvi and the Hammastunturi, Muotka, and Lemmenjoki fells. Trail marked with red posts from the Siida nature center, along the Juutuanjoki through pine forest. Round trip ~18.8 km, about 5 h. Semi-open laavu shelters Jäniskoski and Lauri along the way.
