Orri de Bousadus du haut

The place

This is an orri, a traditional shepherd's shelter from the Ariège region. There are thousands of them; I won't list many on the site since most are uninhabitable. This one appears to be in use (though comfort remains very relative). A roof of large stones, about 4 m² fairly dry, no door, packed-earth floor, no means of heating. It gives you an idea of how harsh life was in the Ariège a century ago. Via the Laurenti forest road (unpaved but open to traffic in summer). Park at the place called "Plaine d'Artigues" Follow the GR 7A uphill for 1 km (passing in front of Bousadus du bas)
