The place

Former standard DOC hut with 7 bunks in Te Urewera (Bay of Plenty), historically managed under the stewardship of Te Uru Taumatua – Ngāi Tūhoe. **One of 29 huts decommissioned (burned) by Tūhoe in 2022**, a demolition ruled illegal by the High Court in 2023; the appeal by TUT was withdrawn at the end of 2023.
