The place

Standard 5-bunk DOC hut in Mount Richmond Forest Park (Marlborough), at 1,140 m elevation. **Built in 1966 by the NZ Forest Service and renovated in 1997**, set in a broad grassy clearing nestled between Old Man Peak and Mt Rintoul; views over Nelson and Motueka. Connections: 7 h / 10 km from Lake Chalice Hut, 4 h / 10 km from Mid Goulter Hut, 5 h / 4.5 km from Mt Rintoul Hut. Fees: NZ$15/night adult, $7.50 youth (5-17 years), free under 5.
