Old Currango Homestead
Currangorambla
The place
Historic former homestead on the Currangorambla Plain in Kosciuszko National Park (NSW, Australia), at 1,293 m, just below the treeline. Views over the plains to the Brindabella Ranges in the east. The main building was built in 1873 by Tom O'Rourke, making it the oldest surviving building in Kosciuszko National Park. Kitchen, bedroom, and chimney added in the 1880s, a shed added in 1900 by Fischer (removed by the army in 1981). Major restoration begun in 1986 by LRC volunteers, the Talbingo Bushwalkers, and the Kosciuszko Huts Association (KHA). Access via the Mosquito Creek Firetrail or on foot from Currango Homestead or the Port Phillip Firetrail.
A bit of history
