The place
Obiralm (Upper Obir Alp) in the Karawanks, on the Austria/Slovenia border (Carinthia, Austria), at 1272 m altitude, on the northern foothills of the Hochobir massif (2139 m). A traditional alpine pasture in the border karst range, part of the multicultural Slovene-Austrian heritage (the Carinthian Slovene minority). An area of beech, spruce, and calcareous grassland, close to the Obir show caves (Obir Tropfsteinhöhlen).
