The place

Staffed CAS Belalp hut at 2640 m in Valais (Switzerland). Capacity 58 beds in the staffed season and 58 beds in the winter section. Summer opening: June 13. Winter room open outside the staffed season. Notable feature: evening meals are vegetarian only, meat dishes available à la carte at lunch with a 10 CHF supplement. Guests are encouraged to bring vegetables for the soup to reduce helicopter resupply. Cash payment preferred, card with a surcharge. Limited power (aging solar panels). Passage via the Beichpass towards the Lötschental temporarily unavailable (bridges closed between Blatten and Willer). Warden Sabrina Valentin.
