The place
Recently renovated alpine bivouac perched on the scenic summit of the Dosso del Vallon, on the left bank of the Val Zebrù in the Stelvio National Park (Valfurva, Lombardy). A remarkable position at the heart of the Stelvio, in a rocky high-altitude bowl linking routes in the Ortles-Cevedale group with high-altitude climbs towards Königspitze, Gran Zebrù and Cevedale. Always-open bivouac, unstaffed, bring your own gear and fuel. Reached from Niblogo / S. Antonio Valfurva via the long ascent of the Val Zebrù on CAI trails 36-37 and their variants, in about 5-6 hours. A strategic stage for Stelvio-Cevedale traverses.
