Nina Hut

The place

A DOC hut in Lake Sumner Forest Park (Canterbury), at 754 m. Shared platform bunks with mattresses, wood-burning stove, collected rainwater, long-drop toilet, camping sites nearby. Access via the Nina Valley Track: 7 km from the road end, about 3 hours; the track is wet and muddy in places, with several stream crossings. No dogs allowed. Online bookings available until 30 June 2027; same-day bookings until 8 pm subject to availability. Backcountry Hut Pass accepted. Rates until 30 June 2026: adults NZ$10, youth NZ$5, children free.
