Ngamoko Hut

The place

Standard-category six-bunk hut located at 650 m in Ruahine Forest Park (Manawatu-Whanganui), maintained by the Palmerston North Tramping and Mountaineering Club. Facilities: water tank, wood stove. Fee 10 NZD adult and 5 NZD youth 5-17 years old per night, free below that age, payable via standard DOC tickets deposited in the honesty box or by donation (suggested minimum 5 NZD per night). Backcountry Hut Pass valid. No booking. Important: the DOC does not maintain or mark the track heading south along the ridge towards Piripiri Hut; demanding subalpine scrub, for experienced trampers only.
