Newton Creek Hut

The place

Basic DOC hut with 4 bunks at 719 m in the Kelly Range – Styx River area (West Coast, NZ), Hokitika sector. Free. Access from Lower Arahura Hut via the Browning Pass bench track (~2 h) then descend to Newton Creek, and a steep climb on the true right bank of the waterfall to reach the basin. Serves as a staging point towards Newton Saddle, Dunns Hut or the Taipo Track.
