The place

Former fire-watch cabin (palovartijantupa) at the summit of Pyhä-Nattanen, in the Sompio nature reserve at Sodankylä, central Finnish Lapland. A legendary spot nicknamed "the most beautiful in Finland" by some hikers. Managed by Metsähallitus, it functioned until 2021 as a päivätupa (day cabin): since summer 2021, the stove has been removed and the cabin is no longer considered an operational shelter but a heritage curiosity. Only a camping stove is available. No overnight stays intended, just a scenic stop.
