The place

An unstaffed refuge managed by the Kárpátok Vándorai association (affiliated with the Magyar Természetjáró Egyesület) in the Mátra range, Heves county, in northern Hungary. A small stone building 7 km southeast of Mátraszentimre, near Gyöngyössolymos. Eight sleeping places across two connecting rooms (3 + 5), a ceramic stove for heating, a gas cooker, water from the Ilona spring about 1 km away, a stream in front of the house, and outdoor toilets 50 m away. Open year-round by reservation through the association.
