Myslivna Skelná Huť
The place
Former forester's lodge (myslivna) on the site of the vanished Skelná Huť glassworks, in the Brdy massif (Plzeň region, Czechia), at the foot of Mount Brdce (839 m). The original glassworks was established in 1749 by the entrepreneur Tobiáš Matěj Adler following a major storm; he leased the storm-damaged forest from the prince for 24 years and operated his furnaces there until 1783. After it closed, a hunting lodge was built on the site and kept the glassworks' name. Demolished shortly after the creation of the military training area, today it leaves only a beautiful clearing in the upper valley of the Lázský potok, with a winter shelter for deer, a barn, two hay barns, a small reservoir, a water source, and a large Douglas fir.
