The place

"Mtis kokhi" (მთის ქოხი, "mountain cabin" in Georgian) set at 1998 m in southeastern Georgia, in the Kvemo Kartli or Samtskhe-Javakheti area. Located around 41.71°N / 43.39°E, in the foothills of the Trialeti Range separating Tbilisi and Borjomi, or near the entrance to Algeti National Park, whose main gate is about 60 km southwest of Tbilisi in the municipality of Tetritsqaro. Mtis kokhi serves as a basic shelter used by hikers, transhumant shepherds, and visitors to Algeti National Park / Algeti Reserve — known for its Caucasian fir (Abies nordmanniana), an endemic species, as well as the medieval fortress of Birtvisi set in the limestone cliffs of the Algeti gorge. Setting of Caucasian beech-fir forests and iconic wildlife (roe deer, brown bear, Eurasian lynx). Shelter with no facilities; conditions to be confirmed with local authorities before any trip.

Kvemo Kartli / Samtskhe-Javakheti region, Trialeti foothills. Near Algeti National Park (Tetritsqaro, ~60 km SW of Tbilisi).
