The place

DOC bach in the Motuora Island Recreation Reserve (Auckland region, New Zealand), at 32 m, 50 m from the beach, on a pest-free island. Capacity 7 people: 1 single bed, 1 double/single bed, 1 sofa bed. Basic cottage, limited solar power, basic kitchen equipped (crockery, pots), hot shower and flush toilet. Rates (until 30 June 2026): $98/night on weekdays, $116/night on weekends and in peak season (1 Dec-8 Feb). Key in the lock box next to the ranger's office (code via booking confirmation). Mandatory biosecurity checklist to complete and bring (protecting native ecosystem). Online booking; same-day booking until 8 pm; no beds held for walk-ins. Activities: swimming, snorkelling, trails, North Island brown kiwi spotting.
