Motukawanui Hut

The place

Serviced hut, 12 bunks on a sleeping platform, in the Motukawanui Island Scenic Reserve (Cavalli Islands, Northland), at 5 m altitude. Boat access only. Candles (no electric lighting), cold running water, compost toilet. Rates until 30 June 2026: adult NZ$25, youth 5-17 years NZ$12.50, child under 5 free. Online booking required until 30 June 2027, same-day bookings close at 8 pm. No places held for walk-in visitors. No camping (fire risk, wildlife conservation), no dogs. Access code issued upon confirmation. Backcountry Hut Pass accepted; standard hut tickets not valid. Wai-iti Bay: sandy beach, snorkeling, sheltered anchorage. Changeable weather during the crossing.
