The place

Mountain lodge (fjellstue) at the heart of Finnmarksvidda, in the municipality of Karasjok (Finnmark) at 381 m, one of the last three state huts of Finnmarksvidda. On the Jiesjohka river, which rises from Lake Jiesjavri, the largest in Finnmark 10 km to the north. Marked summer and winter routes toward Alta and Karasjok, and toward the villages of Jergul and Suossjavri on the E92. Open year-round, meals and lodging available. The Eriksen family ran it continuously from the 1920s to 2023; since 2024, sixth generation, Nils Torfinn Balto as manager.
