Mischabelhütte AACZ
The place
High-altitude hut at 3340 m at the foot of the north-east ridge of the Lenzspitze, above Saas-Fee (Valais, Switzerland). Owned and managed by the Akademischer Alpen-Club Zürich (AACZ). The decision to build was made on 23 February 1899, the site on the east ridge of the Lenzspitze was chosen on 23 October 1901, and the official inauguration took place on 8 and 9 August 1903. The third-highest SAC hut in Switzerland. Two buildings about 10 m apart: the upper (newer) hut serves as the main house (kitchen, dormitories, dining room, sanitary facilities); the lower hut offers additional sleeping space and acts as the winter room when unstaffed. Total capacity of 100 beds. A remarkable base camp for 4000 m routes in the Mischabel group (Lenzspitze, Nadelhorn, Dom).
