Millers Hut

The place

Historic cabin on Long Plain in Kosciuszko National Park (New South Wales, Snowy Mountains), at about 1,360 m. Built in 1943-1944 by Theo and Bill Miller from salvaged materials, in two days according to oral tradition. A distinctive corrugated-iron building (walls and roof) with a timber floor, iron chimney, and stone hearth. Located about 1 km south of the Port Phillip Fire Trail, with no official track — a footpad forms as visitors make their way there. A popular site for its tranquility, accessible but little known, not shown on official maps. Part of the heritage of about 70 historic huts in Kosciuszko National Park, tracked by the Kosciuszko Huts Association.
