Middalsbu

The place

Self-service cabin of the Stavanger Turistforening (DNT) at 860 meters altitude at the head of Middalen, right beside the river that runs through the valley (Ryfylkeheiane, Rogaland, Norway). About 30 minutes' walk from the car park along the trail. An excellent starting point for crossings of the western "vidda" following the T-marked trail toward Hellevassbu and further to Sandfloegga (the highest point of the Hardangervidda, 1,721 m). Unstaffed hut, numbered bunks bookable; reservation recommended during busy periods via hyttebestilling.dnt.no.
