Mid Goulter Hut

The place

Standard 8-bunk DOC hut in Mount Richmond Forest Park (Marlborough), at 451 m. Built in 1969 then extended in 1997. Access: from the end of the 4WD road beyond Staircase Road in 3 h 30; from Lake Chalice Hut in 5 h (9 km); from Lower Goulter Hut in 3 h (6.8 km); from Old Man Hut in 4 h (10 km). No booking required, payment by hut tickets (blue adult, yellow child) or Backcountry Hut Pass (NZ$10/5 until 30 June 2026).
