The place

Self-service DNT hut located at 850 m in the Ryfylkeheiane, Hjelmeland municipality (Rogaland), operated by Stavanger Turistforening. Building constructed in 1985, twenty-two sleeping places. Kitchen equipment, bedding, cooking gas, firewood, candles, pantry. Booking via the DNT system, reduced rate for members. Access from the Kleivaland car park, 4 to 5 h on a waymarked trail. Access route: national road 13 to Hjelmeland, turning off just before the ferry landing to Vormedalen, then Kleivaland. Located in the Vormedalsheia landscape reserve, near the Ritlandskrateret crater (2.7 km in diameter, formed by a meteorite 500 million years ago); the trail from Kleivaland crosses it.
