Mathias Hut

The place

Basic backcountry hut with 4 bunks operated by the New Zealand Deerstalkers' Association, Rakaia branch, in the Rangitata and Rakaia rivers area (Mid and South Canterbury). No DOC track access: independent navigation required (map, compass, GPS); possible river crossings. Suggested donation NZ$10 per person per night in the honesty box, or contact nzdarakaia@gmail.com.
