Mas de la Barque (Mt Lozère)
The place
Capacity: 36 Gîte open all year (which wasn't the case before) located at the small Mas de la Barque ski station, where the D362 road from Genolhac and the D66 from Villefort end, in addition to the trails. Footfall therefore depends heavily on the dominant activities. A base for hikes on the Lozère. Villefort and Genolhac are served by SNCF, on the "Cévenol" line, and railway enthusiasts can look forward to visiting the "Le Cévenol" train's website and planning their trip. Individual overnight booking is only possible if this gîte is not fully booked by a group. Either from Villefort, via the GR72, about 14 km and 900 m of ascent. Or from Genolhac along the sentier des Bouzèdes (or "Malmontet"), 1000 m of ascent over a similar distance, but this route offers finer views. Getting there
Situé au carrefour des routes D362 et D66. Accessible à pied depuis Villefort par le GR72 (environ 14km, 900m de dénivelé), depuis Genolhac par le sentier des Bouzèdes, ou depuis les crêtes du Lozère.
The setting
Massif central, secteur Cévennes/Mont Lozère, en zone cœur du Parc national des Cévennes. Petite station de moyenne montagne à exposition sud, servant de camp de base pour la randonnée. L'ancien domaine de ski alpin attenant a fermé (enneigement peu fiable).
A bit of history
Le site est présenté comme celui où a débuté la Guerre des Camisards, le 24 juillet 1702. Le Mas de la Barque a évolué d'une ancienne maison forestière vers une petite station de tourisme vert.

Fonctionne comme refuge/gîte gardé avec restauration sur place, capacité d'environ 36 personnes en gîte de groupe.
