The place
Alpine dairy hut set at 1,976 m on the foothills of the Gruppo dell'Adamello, in the Val Saviore area (municipality of Saviore dell'Adamello, province of Brescia, Lombardy). Notable location at the heart of the Adamello Regional Park and on the north-eastern edge of the Stelvio National Park, along the routes linking Val Saviore to the Valle dell'Adamè (Malga Lincino - Rifugio Adamè - Bivacco Baroni). The building retains its pastoral summer-grazing function — an alpine pasture run by local herders for making traditional Val Camonica alpine cheeses. Outstanding mineral and lakeside setting: mountain streams, alpine lakes, views of the Adamello glacier (one of the largest in the Italian Alps), and iconic alpine wildlife — chamois, reintroduced ibex, marmot, and golden eagle. A stopover outside the summer grazing season for routes in upper Val Saviore and the Valle dell'Adamè. Check conditions before setting out.
