Maitland Hut

The place

Standard DOC hut with 4 bunks at 980 m in the Ruataniwha Conservation Park (Canterbury). 4 h (10 km) from Lake Ohau Road. The initial section of the Maitland Track crosses private property: ask permission from Lake Ohau Station. Hut close to an avalanche path: avoid in very heavy snow conditions. Payment by DOC tickets or Backcountry Hut Pass.
