The place

Sleeping spots planned: 2 Spots with mattress: 2 State as of end 10/2023: - watertight roof, door and windows in good condition - main room's chimney draws well - large sleeping area under the roof, accessible via a staircase and hatch - some firewood under the outdoor lean-to, and more kept dry inside - a few food supplies left: coffee, sugar, condiments, soups... - small furniture (table, benches, chairs) inside, picnic table outside - in the room "reserved for ONF", a double bed with 3 stacked mattresses - fence down GSM signal available 100 meters to the south, at the end of the forest track: climb onto the rocks overlooking the valley. Argentu spring nearby. From Calacuccia via the Mare à Mare Nord trail (or from Casamaccioli via the Bocca à a Croce vehicle track), then the long ONF track serving the Melo forest. From Corte, ~3-4 h walk via the Mare à Mare Nord trail (cairned and marked) following the Tavignanu gorges up to the "passerelle de Russulinu" footbridge; from the bridge, stay on the true left on a cairned path (shown on IGN maps) climbing in switchbacks to the Melo forest and the forest house. Also accessible via the trail-running loop up to l'Arche, past the Padule and Conia sheepfolds, then in front of the latter a faint forest path shown on IGN maps. Collectivité de Corse; managed by ONF, commune of Corte (2B). Priority use by forestry services.
