The place
Basic shelter. A fireplace, a monumental table surrounded by 5 benches. Nothing set up for sleeping. Note that, although the door closes properly, there is no longer any window or shutters on 2 side openings, meaning you're sheltered from rain while still enjoying the fresh air. Follow the GR 7A north from Belvis. After crossing the ridge via the sunken path (chemin Vauban), turn right at the picnic tables then left after 700m. An (open) shelter is available to the right of the forest house (closed). ONF.
Getting there
Se rejoint depuis le hameau de Montmija (commune de Coudons, Aude) en suivant la route forestière de Calong.
The setting
Bâtiment forestier dans la forêt domaniale de Callong-Mirailles (337ha sur 3 communes), rebord nord-est du plateau de Sault, Pyrénées audoises. Sapinière ancienne avec mousses, lichens et fougères ; vues dégagées allant du Canigou aux Pyrénées ariégeoises. Gestion ONF avec plan d'aménagement 2019-2038.
