Sub-chief's House in the Kara region, Kandé/Ketao sector (northern Togo, Kabyè mountains, Togo), at 238 m altitude, southern Atacora range. New Togo cluster appeared in batch 346. The traditional house of a Kabyè sub-chief (a people making up 30% of Togo's population, speaking the Kabyè language; the chief "dieuf" is the holder of sacred local power within the colonial-postcolonial hierarchy; Eyadéma, dictator 1967-2005, was Kabyè, as is his son Faure Gnassingbé, president since 2005), a zone of Guinean savanna in the Kabyè mountains and of Tamberma tata-somba villages (UNESCO 2004, fortified tower-houses, 3 storeys, 400 years old, used for grain storage + housing for extended families, unique architecture in Africa), Kabyè-Losso-Tamberma heritage.
