Madonna del Corno
The place
Church-sanctuary of the Annunciazione and its adjoining rifugio at 414-427 m on the Corno (or Ronco) di Provaglio d'Iseo (province of Brescia, Lombardy). A building perched in an exceptional panoramic position above the town, facing the Torbiere del Sebino wetlands and the southern part of Lago d'Iseo. Owned by the commune of Provaglio d'Iseo, the rifugio has been entrusted since 1994 to the CAI Provaglio section, which manages it on a volunteer basis; generally open on Sundays and public holidays. Access on foot via a scenic trail starting from the parish church. Alternating views: on one side Franciacorta and the Torbiere del Sebino, and further up at a nearby promontory topped with a large iron cross, a view opening onto Lago d'Iseo as far as Monte Guglielmo. Listed as one of the FAI's "I Luoghi del Cuore" (Places of the Heart).
