The place
Lodge founded in 1996, formerly the Namgyal Lodge, perched at 4,470 m in the village of Machermo in the upper Dudh Kosi valley, below the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpa glacier, the longest in the Himalayas. One of the best lodges in the Khumbu region for quality of cooking, hospitality, hygiene and infrastructure. Camping site also available. Important acclimatisation stop on the Gokyo Ri and Everest base camp route, with a recommended stay of one or two nights before heading up to Gokyo.
Getting there
Stop on the classic Everest trek via Gokyo Ri, located north of Dole and south of Gokyo.
The setting
Upper Dudh Kosi valley, below the moraine of the Ngozumpa glacier, in Sagarmatha National Park (Khumbu).
