The place

Private 8-bunk hut owned and managed by Whanganui High School for use by its students, located at 1380 m in Tongariro National Park (Ruapehu area). Access is 1 h 30 walk from the end of Ohakune Mountain Road, via the Round The Mountain Track; the climb from the river is marked. Fee: NZD 15 per adult per night, NZD 7.50 for youths aged 11-17, free under 10. Standard DOC passes do not apply. Public bookings via direct contact (office@whs.ac.nz).
