The place
Staffed refuge at 1,939 m above the Lago del Polzone, commune of Colere in Val di Scalve (province of Bergamo, Lombardy, Italy). Capacity of 40 sleeping places and 50 dining places. Managed by Elgrop snc di Zani Chicco. Open year-round with seasonal variations (weekends and public holidays in winter). Classic access from Carbonera in 2h30 via trail 403 (900 m elevation gain), or from the Rifugio Antonio Curo in 7h via trail 401. Facilities: internet, mobile signal, showers, liner sleeping bags available, blankets, lighting, vending machine, vegetarian and gluten-free menu. Getting there
Plusieurs itinéraires d'accès : depuis Carbonera, environ 2h30 de marche pour 900 m de dénivelé, par le sentier 403 ; depuis Baite del Moschel, environ 3h pour 1200 m de dénivelé ; depuis le Rifugio Antonio Curo, environ 7h pour 500 m de dénivelé via le sentier 401 ; accès facilité d'environ 20 minutes à pied depuis Cima Bianca via la 2e remontée mécanique.
The setting
Le refuge se situe à 1939 m d'altitude sur la commune de Colère (Bergame), au dernier point du Sentiero delle Orobie, dominant la Valle di Scalve. Il offre une vue directe sur la paroi Nord de la Presolana, dont la couleur varie selon la lumière (blanc éblouissant le jour, embrasé au coucher du soleil).
