Lower Ripia Hut
The place
DOC hut in the Lower Ripia block, situated above the Ripia River in Kaweka Forest Park (Hawke's Bay, North Island, New Zealand). The area consists mainly of open beech forest dotted with natural clearings, terrain typical for deer and chamois hunting, jointly managed by DOC and the operator Helisika. The hut, reachable on foot via the Ripia valleys or by helicopter, serves as a base for both hunters and trampers seeking a lightly visited area on the eastern side of the park. Standard DOC facilities: bunks, untreated water, dry toilets; the block requires a hunting permit depending on the season.
Getting there
