Lower Princhester Hut

The place

A 6-bunk standard DOC hut in the Takitimu Conservation Area (Southland), at 479 m, a stage on the Te Araroa Trail. Becketts Hut is 3 h 30 away on foot. No booking, payment by hut tickets or Backcountry Hut Pass (NZ$10/5 until 30 June 2026). Te Araroa walkers: registration and Trail Pass purchased separately. New rates from 1 July 2026.
