Lower Olderog Bivouac

The place

Basic 2-bunk bivouac in the Kelly Range — Styx River area (West Coast, near Hokitika), at 853 m. Free. Access route not maintained by DOC — sporadic maintenance and markers provided by the Permolat association (NZ). River crossing precautions, no bridges: do not attempt in flood, check NIWA flow levels. See also the Remote Huts website.
