The place

Free wilderness hut (autiotupa) managed by Metsähallitus in the municipality of Enontekiö, in Käsivarren Yliperä (Finnish Lapland), on the shore of Lake Lossujärvi south of Urtasvaara, at 809 meters elevation near the Norwegian border. Eight bunks. Minimal facilities: hearth (kamiina) but no stove or gas, no sauna, no wood supplied, no water, no toilets. Free accommodation, shared, first come first served, stay limited to one or two nights under autiotupa rules. Open year-round.
