Lloyds hotel

The place

Historic orange cabin on the Regnardneset point, inside Möllerfjorden (Krossfjorden), Svalbard (Norway). Coordinates: 79°16.8' N, 11°52' E. Built before 1928, probably between 1912 and 1914 during a German expedition. The Hamburg-Amerikalinje shipping company (and later Norddeutscher Lloyd) was among those interested in occupying the area — hence the name "Lloyds hotel". Protected cultural heritage site, managed by the Governor of Svalbard. Frequently visited by Hapag Lloyd cruises; a guestbook is kept. Major cleanup and restoration in 2003. Strict rules: do not damage or remove objects, do not add graffiti or signs, no fires within 100 m, leave no waste. Recommended approach from the eastern side of the headland. Very atypical profile: protected cultural monument, not usable as accommodation like a refuge.
