The place
Serviced alpine hut with ten bunks located at 1,093 m in the Matukituki Valley, Mount Aspiring National Park (Otago). Rate per night: NZD 35 adult, NZD 17.50 youth (15-17) and NZAC members, free up to 4 years old. Seasonal regime: from Labour Weekend (late October) to 30 April, booking and payment at time of booking are mandatory (standard passes do not apply); from 1 May to Labour Weekend, no booking, first-come first-served with dedicated tickets or Backcountry Hut Pass. Warden present intermittently from 1 December to 30 April. Bring sleeping bag, stove, cookware, toilet paper, rubbish bag, and torch. Access from the Raspberry Creek car park in 5 to 6.5 h (15 km) via the Liverpool Track, or in 3 to 4 h (6 km) from Aspiring Hut. Map NZTM2000 E1254993, N5071096.
