The place
Swiss Alpine Club hut (Mythen section) at 1727 m, on the north slope of the Chaiserstockkette in the little-known Riemenstaldnertal, in Uri territory (the valley itself lies in Schwyz). Built in 1944; through successive renovations it has kept its original character. Capacity for 85 beds, real comfort for mountain enthusiasts. Facilities without showers, toilets and cold running water year-round. Fine setting: view over Lake Lucerne. A starting point for avalanche courses, ski touring and climbing. Original access via the adventurous small open cable car (Luftseilbahn) Chäppeliberg-Spilau, or on foot in under 2 hours. Classic hike: Lidernenhütte → Chaiserstock.
